Gulf Coast Cruise
natural history
Description:
Discover first hand the natural and cultural treasures that make up the Gulf Coast. The coastal islands are teem with wildlife, and the historic and cultural sites attest to the region's rich and varied history. Explore New Orleans and Mobile; both cities were founded by the French and still celebrate their French and Creole heritage. Less well-known but equally fascinating is Apalachicola, an enchanting waterfront town in Florida, renowned for its 19th-century architecture. We also visit the natural habitats of the Gulf Islands National Seashore, wherein the palmetto forests are home to more than 280 species of birds, and the St. Vincent National Wildlife Refuge, habitat of such rare species as red wolves and bald eagles.
Travel and accommodation is aboard a 257 feet long cruise vessel accommodating 138 guests, in double and single cabins with private baths. The ship's cuisine, served in a dining room large enough to accommodate all guests at once, emphasizes American regional culinary traditions and specialties. Both the lounge and dining room are surrounded by large picture windows that afford unobstructed views of the passing scenery.
